Remembering Our Founding Mother
We all mourn the passing of UPAL National's
Founding Mother, Maurci Lynn Jackson. We continue in her memory and vow to give
life to her ideas. Maurci often said: "The squeaky wheel gets the oil."
Maurci Jackson, a native of Chicago, Illinois,
entered into eternal life on January 8, 2002 at the age
of 41 years old. Subsequent to the 1990 discovery that
her two children were poisoned with lead, Maurci,
established and served as Executive Director of Parents
Against Lead and United Parents Against Lead. Ms.
Jackson received many rewards for her efforts to
eradicate lead poisoning. She was a national crusader
against lead poisoning. She is missed by many,
especially her daughters Maurita, Maurisa and her mother
Maura Jackson.
